Designed by Muka Design Lab, LOTU is a contemporary armchair in which craftsmanship, ergonomics and visual lightness come together to create an elegant and timeless aesthetic. Inspired by certain elements of Eastern design, the collection features visible structural details that emphasise the piece’s handcrafted nature and unique identity.

The design stands out in particular for the way elements are joined using natural fibres that are visible on the armrests, creating a warm, organic feel that clearly sets the collection apart. This handcrafted approach not only adds visual character, but also creates a very natural connection between the frame and the upholstery.

LOTU exudes a serene sophistication, where formal simplicity, comfort and high-quality materials come together to create a piece that is particularly well-suited to contemporary hospitality settings and refined residential spaces. The name ‘Lotu’ itself, which means ‘to tie’ in Basque, connects directly with the structural and conceptual essence of the design.

Materials and construction

Frame made from solid wood of ash selected for its qualities of strength, durability and visual warmth.

The seat features 28 kg/m³ foam covered with a thin layer of 150 g/m³ fibre to enhance comfort and softness.

The backrest is made from super-soft S foam (18 kg/m³) covered with 150 g/m³ fibre, providing a cosier, more enveloping feel.

The handcrafted stitching using natural fibres, visible on the armrest, reinforces the collection’s distinctive, handcrafted character.
